Sean Prather has extensive work experience in the banking and financial services industry. Sean most recently worked as a Regulatory Consultant at Scotiabank starting in March 2023. Prior to that, they owned their own company, SAP Risk Consultants LLC.
Before starting their own business, Sean worked at various companies in different roles. At Citi, from May to August 2022, they worked as Director - Regulatory Transformation, focusing on remediation work under Citi's OCC and FRB consent orders. Sean was responsible for reporting on remediation progress to regulators and senior management.
At HSBC, Sean held multiple roles starting in November 2019. As Americas Head of Regulatory Change, Global Markets, they led large-scale regulatory transformation programs and represented the business in regulatory exams. Sean also served as Vice President, Risk - Global Banking and Markets & Commercial Banking, reporting to the Chief Risk Officer. In this role, they covered various non-financial risks and coordinated complex risk efforts across the business.
Before HSBC, Sean worked at Banco Santander as an Assistant Vice President and at First National Bank of Omaha as a Market Risk Manager. Sean was responsible for liquidity risk and market risk management, including interest rate risk, investment portfolio, derivatives, and funding plans.
Earlier in their career, Sean held financial analyst roles at Pitney Bowes and First Data Corporation. Sean also worked in client services at First Data Corporation.
Sean Prather has a Master of Science (MS) degree in Finance (Investment Management and Financial Analysis) from Creighton University, which they obtained from 2012 to 2014. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor's Degree in Finance at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, spanning from 2007 to 2011. In 2008, they participated in an International Business Program at Senshu University.
