Nick Palmer

Principal Engineer at Array

Nick Palmer has over 20 years of work experience in the technology industry. Nick began their career in 2000 as a Software Engineer at NewMonics Inc, where they implemented the java.util library package and JNI for the Perc embedded virtual machine, and ported the virtual machine to the OSE embedded operating system. In 2001, they worked as an Assistant Vice President and Software Engineer at Kestrel Technologies Inc., where they were responsible for requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment and maintenance of a distributed compute farm for processing large financial data sets. Nick then moved to AP Engines as a Software Engineer, where they worked on requirements analysis, design using UML and Rational Rose, implementation, testing, and deployment of several large projects. From 2012 to 2014, they worked at Humin Inc, eventually bought by Tinder, as a Member of Technical Staff. During this time, they worked on the Humin Server team, writing backends with magic scaling sprinkles, and managing DevOps, as well as running the Humin Android team, architecting, managing, and implementing Android applications. From 2014 to 2016, they worked at Motherly as an Advisor & CTO, advising on various technical issues, and rebuilding the frontend stack using React / Redux on Express / Node.js. Nick then worked at Nick.Codes as a Principal Consultant from 2016 to 2021, consulting on various mobile and full stack projects. Nick is currently working as a Principal Engineer at Array.

Nick Palmer obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Mobile Distributed Systems from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam) between 2007 and 2012. Prior to that, they obtained a Masters in Parallel and Distributed Computer Systems from the same university between 2005 and 2007. Nick also obtained a BS in Computer Engineering, with minors in Mathematics and Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona between 1996 and 2000. Additionally, they attended Western Connecticut State University between 1994 and 1995, studying Computer Engineering.
