Þór Reynir Jóhannsson began their work experience in 2002 at BYKO, where they worked as a Salesperson until 2009 and then transitioned to a Marketing and Advertisement role until 2012. In 2012, they started working at Reykjavik University as a Student of Business, a role they held until 2015. Later in 2015, they joined PwC Iceland as an Associate and became a State Authorized Public Accountant in 2019. Þór Reynir continued working at PwC Iceland until 2021 when they moved to Arion banki in a role focused on risk framework and monitoring.

Þór Reynir Jóhannsson completed their Master's degree in Accounting from Reykjavik University from 2015 to 2017. Prior to that, they earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Commerce, General from the same institution, which they pursued from 2012 to 2015.

In addition to their formal education, Þór Reynir Jóhannsson also holds the certification of "Löggiltur Endurskoðandi" from FLE - Félag lögglitra endurskoðenda, obtained in December 2019. Þór Reynir also has a certification in Business Administration, obtained from Reykjavik University, though the specific details of the month and year of obtaining this certification are unknown.
