Laura Merrick has over 20 years of experience in the aerospace industry. Laura started their career at United Space Alliance as a Design Engineer, where they worked on electrical designs for various space shuttle ground support equipment. Laura then joined Boeing as a System Test Engineer, where they focused on the International Space Station's Truss segments. After that, Laura worked at United Space Alliance as an Electrical Design Engineer, specializing in hydraulic systems on the Mobile Launch Platform.
In 2006, Laura moved to Honeywell Aerospace as the BMRST Engineering Lead Coordinator, responsible for maintaining communications and scheduling tasks between Honeywell, the Florida Air National Guard, and the Eastern Range personnel. Laura then joined Stinger Ghaffarian Technologies as a Lead Electrical Design Engineer V, where they were involved in the trade studies, design, and testing of launch accessories and facility ground support equipment.
Currently, Laura works at ARES Corporation as a Project Manager, focusing on C3 Ground Integration and System Engineering for ARTEMIS Missions. Laura is responsible for requirements, design certification reviews, interface control documents, and trade studies. Additionally, they oversee labor hours, cost estimates, and updates to ground support equipment schematics.
Throughout their career, Laura has demonstrated strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills in various roles within the aerospace industry.
Laura Merrick earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology from the University of Central Florida, where they studied from 1990 to 1995. In 2015, they furthered their education by pursuing a Master's Degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University, which they completed in 2016. Additionally, Laura has obtained multiple certifications throughout their career, including "Model-Based Systems Engineering: Documentation and Analysis" from MIT Professional Education in July 2017, "Models in Engineering" from MIT Professional Education in May 2017, "Architecture of Complex Systems" from MIT Professional Education in March 2017, and "Electrical Design for Motors" from HeatSpring in April 2016, among others.
