Riley Smith has a diverse range of work experience in marketing, communications, and operations. They started their career at Counterbalance Bicycles as a Bicycle Mechanic, handling sales and service. They then worked at This Side of West as an intern, quickly advancing to the role of Fiction Editor and later becoming the Editor-in-Chief. During their time at This Side of West, they grew readership and event attendance significantly. Riley then transitioned to The Polka Dot Jersey as a Marketing & Sales Manager, where they focused on community activations, email marketing, and overseeing sales and service teams. They also worked as a Tactical Support Advisor at velofix Group of Companies, managing relationships between franchises, head office, and vendors, and developing new communication tools and franchise data reports. Riley later took on the role of Marketing & Sales Manager at Great Western Bicycle Company, where they managed marketing and sales operations and spearheaded community initiatives. They then worked as a Communications & Marketing Specialist at HLC, managing communications and marketing for a catalogue of brands and hosting conferences and webinars. Most recently, Riley has been working as the Owner/Operator of Hardly Even Marketing, providing freelance marketing and operations consultancy services for retail and service businesses. They are currently working as a Trade Marketing Program Manager at Arc'teryx Equipment. Overall, Riley has a strong background in marketing, communications, and operations, with experience in managing teams, developing strategies, and driving growth.

Riley Smith attended the University of Victoria from 2015 to 2020, where they obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Creative Writing. Additionally, during the same period, Riley pursued a Minor in Accounting and Business/Management at the same institution.
