Lorraine Cathey is an experienced educator with a background in teaching science across various grade levels. Currently, Cathey serves as a Science Teacher at the Archdiocese of San Francisco since September 2018. Previous roles include Science Teacher at KIPP Bridge Academy, where science was taught to 8th graders using the Amplify curriculum, and at Visitacion Valley Middle School within the SFUSD, where Cathey taught 6th and 7th grades and initiated several educational programs. Additionally, Cathey taught a combined 4th-5th grade science curriculum at KIPP Bayview Academy, achieving record-high science proficiency scores among students. Earlier experience also includes serving as a Reading Specialist at KIPP Bayview Academy. Cathey holds a Credential in Education from San Francisco State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Theater Arts from Mills College, along with studies at Stockholm University.
