Thomas McDonald, MPH, CDP, CTRS has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Thomas began their career in 2001 as a Recreation Therapist at Jamaica Hospital and later worked as a Recreation Therapist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. In 2008, they joined St. Barnabas Nursing Home as the Director of Therapeutic Recreation. Thomas then moved to ArchCare in 2011, where they held the position of Director of Therapeutic Recreation and Volunteer Services until 2020. Currently, Thomas serves as the Assistant Administrator at ArchCare, utilizing their extensive expertise in the field.
Thomas McDonald has a strong educational background in the field of healthcare administration and therapeutic recreation. Thomas obtained their Master of Public Health (M.P.H.) degree with a focus on Health Policy and Management from New York Medical College in 2008. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's Degree in Leisure Studies with a Concentration in Therapeutic Recreation from SUNY Brockport in 2000.
In terms of additional certifications, Thomas obtained a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from Executive Education at Rutgers School of Business-Camden in March 2017. Additionally, they hold certifications as a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) from NCCDP and as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) from NCTRC.
Thomas also pursued further education through an Advanced Certificate in Long Term Care Administration from The College of New Rochelle in 2017-2018. Furthermore, in 2016 they participated in Lean Six Sigma Operating Excellence Green Belt Training at Rutgers University with Lockheed Martin, although no specific degree was mentioned for this training.
