Alp Artar has a strong work background, with experience in various roles and industries. They started their career as a Research Assistant at Boston University, where they worked on the design and numerical analysis of three-dimensional metamaterials. During this time, they wrote and co-authored numerous peer-reviewed papers that were highly cited.
In 2013, Alp Artar co-founded scorebeyond, an edTech company that focused on guaranteeing score improvements for students through software and data science. This venture was later acquired by LinkedIn in 2018. At scorebeyond, Alp Artar played a pivotal role in developing an end-to-end solution, including mobile practice apps, online private tutoring, and student-tracking tools.
After the acquisition, Alp Artar joined LinkedIn as a Senior Software Engineer and gradually progressed to become a Staff Software Engineer and then a Software Engineering Manager. They were a founding engineer in the Skills-based hiring engineering team and served as an engineering leader for Skill Assessments.
More recently, Alp Artar worked at Notion as a Software Engineer before joining Arc in 2023 as the Head of Engineering.
Alp Artar earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Boston University, studying from 2008 to 2013. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering at Bilkent University from 2004 to 2008. Alp Artar also obtained a certification in Unconscious Bias from LinkedIn in January 2021.
