Jim Chyou's work experience begins in 1988, where they worked as an Engineer at Springfield Marine Group. In 1989, they moved to Johnson Controls as a Senior Project Engineer until 1994. From 1994 to 1998, they worked at General Motors as a Design Release Engineer, and then transitioned to the role of Staff Engineer from 1998 to 2006. At General Motors, they eventually became an Engineering Group Manager from 2006 to 2010.
In 2010, Jim joined Chery Automobile Co. Ltd. as a Chief Engineer & Director, and later became an Executive Director from 2011 to 2017. From 2015 to 2018, they also served as Chairman and CEO of SICAR, focusing on Chery Accessory Group and aftermarket components, in addition to their role in Interior/Exterior Engineering at Chery.
After leaving Chery, Jim held the position of Vice President at Chery Jaguar Land Rover from 2017 to 2019. Jim then transitioned to the role of RIT (Retiree In Training) at Chery Automobile Co., Ltd. from 2019 to 2020. Currently, Jim is the Asia Pacific CEO at Aptera Motors starting from July 2021.
Jim Chyou's education history consists of two major degrees. From 1978 to 1982, Jim attended National Taiwan University, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Bio-Industrial Mechatronics Engineering. Following this, from 1986 to 1988, Jim pursued a Master of Science (MS) in Mechanical Engineering at Missouri University of Science and Technology.
In addition to their degrees, Jim Chyou has also obtained a certification as a Professional Engineer from the State of Michigan in October 2007.
