Corporate Legal Counsel at Applied Invention

Kevin Keegan has had a varied and successful career in legal and corporate settings. In 2002, they began as a Senior Loss Control Administrator at Enterprise Rent-a-Car, where they were responsible for all legal claims and compliance for five local offices. In 2006, they served as a Judicial Extern for the Honorable Suzanne Segal at the United States District Court for the Central District of California. In 2007, they worked as a Law Clerk at CONKLE, KREMER & ENGEL, PROFESSIONAL LAW CORPORATION, where they researched and drafted memoranda on varying issues of law. In 2008, they became an Attorney at the same firm, where they were responsible for drafting and responding to discovery requests, taking and defending depositions, drafting motion papers, arguing in court, negotiating and drafting settlement agreements, and defending results on appeal. In 2012, they became an Intellectual Property Analyst at Applied Minds, where their responsibilities included capturing and managing intellectual property assets, drafting initial patent applications, and prosecuting intellectual property applications. In 2014, they became Corporate Legal Counsel at Applied Invention, where their responsibilities included drafting and negotiating all contracts, custodian of all active contracts, capturing and managing intellectual property assets, drafting initial patent applications, prosecuting intellectual property applications, managing outside counsel, providing advice on employment related matters, and serving as a legal advisor to multiple spin-out companies. Highlights of their work at Applied Invention include managing a patent portfolio containing hundreds of patents and negotiating large scale multi-year development contracts with multiple Fortune 500 companies.

Kevin Keegan obtained a B.A. Science and Management from Claremont McKenna College between 1998 and 2002, with a field of study in Premed, Biotechnology, Business, and Accounting. Kevin then attended Loyola Law School, Los Angeles from 2005 to 2008, where they earned a Juris Doctorate in Law. In 2007, they obtained a Patent Attorney certification from the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In 2008, they were licensed as a California Attorney by the California Bar.
