Lucas Sarto is Appian's PMO Manager responsible for implementing the PMO strategy for the global portfolio, integrating reporting structures and frameworks across all companies aiming at consolidating overall operational and financial performance management. He joined Appian Brazil in 2019 as PMO Manager and implemented the Corporate PMO function, rolling it out to the operational sites (Atlantic Nickel and MVV). His last position in Appian's Brazilian subsidiary before joining Appian in London was FP&A Manager, responsible for budgeting, forecasting and overall cost management and financial performance. Lucas has more than 10 years of experience in Programme Management Office (PMO) for mega capital projects in the mining industry in Brazil, United Arab Emirates, and West Africa. He was a PMO member of Anglo American's Iron Ore Brazil project and after the start of operations supported the Operating Model roll-out, during the ramp-up phase.
Prior to joining Appian Capital Brazil, Mr. Sarto was the PMO Coordinator for Mubadala's bauxite export project in Guinea, also working closely with the project financing process and establishing the Integrated Business Planning function in the company, focusing on the development of the local workforce, in preparation for the steady-state operation phase. Lucas is Brazilian, a native Portuguese speaker, and fluent in English and French.
He holds a bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering and a Masters in Quality Engineering, both from Minas Gerais Catholic University (PUC Minas).
