Henry Hoberman

Chief Legal Officer, A+E Networks at A+E Networks

Hoberman has over 30 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry. Prior to joining A&E Networks®, he served as Senior Executive Vice President, Global General Counsel and Secretary for the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), where he was responsible for running three MPAA divisions worldwide: Legal, Content Protection and Rights Management. Before MPAA, Hoberman served as the Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of RHI Entertainment, Inc., a New York-based television production company, where he oversaw all worldwide business affairs, legal affairs and human resources functions and helped spearhead the company’s 2008 IPO.

During the previous decade, Hoberman held various positions of leadership at ABC and The Walt Disney Company, including Senior Vice President, Litigation and Employment Practices, ABC, Inc., where he served as the worldwide head of litigation for all ABC-owned properties, including the ABC Television Network. Before joining ABC/Disney, Hoberman was an Equity Partner in the Media and Communications Group at Baker & Hostetler, LLP and an Assistant United States Attorney in Washington, DC. He has also served as Chairman of the Board of the Media Law Resource Center, a prominent nonprofit organization founded in 1980 by major American media companies to defend free press and free speech rights, and is a recipient (with colleagues) of the First Amendment Award from the Society of Professional Journalists for obtaining the court-ordered, public disclosure of the Independent Counsel’s full Iran-Contra report.
