Richard Belcinski

Principal Software Engineer at Apixio

Richard Belcinski has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Richard started their career at Alcedo, Inc. in 1994 as a Lead Software Engineer, where they were responsible for writing instrument control software for an electron-beam substrate test device. Richard also developed GUI software for user control and calibration. Richard then moved on to work at Cardiac Mariners, Inc. (now NexRay, Inc.) as a Sr. Member, Technical Staff. Here, they created data management and instrumentation control software for a next-generation medical X-ray imaging system. Richard also wrote system alignment software to optimize electron beam scanning. In 2000, Richard joined GE Healthcare (formerly Amersham Biosciences, Amersham Pharmacia Biotech, Molecular Dynamics) as a Software Architect. In this role, they designed a new instrumentation control and image analysis framework using the .NET framework for cellular imaging systems. Before joining GE Healthcare, Richard worked as a Research Associate at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. During this time, they worked with a group of physicists and wrote control and calibration software for a particle detector at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center. Richard also developed pattern recognition and noise removal software for particle reactions. From 2005 to 2013, Richard worked at IntegenX, Inc. as a Principal Software Engineer. Here, they played a key role in architecting and developing the company's internal instrumentation-control and application development stack, called "DevLink." The software allowed for the creation of XML-defined state machine abstractions and distributed implementation of systems. In 2013, Richard joined Apixio as a Principal Software Engineer, where they continue to contribute their expertise.

Richard Belcinski has a Ph.D. in Experimental High Energy Physics from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, which they obtained between 1986 and 1994. Richard also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, with High Distinction, from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, completed from 1982 to 1986. During their undergraduate years, Richard completed a summer internship in Physical Oceanography at Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Geological Observatory in 1985. Additionally, they have pursued miscellaneous training, although specific details about the duration and field of study are not provided. In 2018, Richard obtained a certification in Big Data Analysis with Scala and Spark from Coursera.
