Gabriel Ortiz has a diverse work experience in the field of electrical engineering.

Gabriel started their career at ETH, Zurich, where they worked as a PhD Researcher and Teaching Assistant from February 2009 to January 2014. During this time, they focused on research in Solid-State Transformer technologies and developed high power DC-DC converter prototypes. Gabriel also analyzed magnetic components and utilized the latest generation IGBT power devices.

After completing their PhD, Gabriel continued their work at ETH, Zurich as a Post Doctoral Researcher from March 2014 to February 2015. In this role, they supervised PhD research projects and provided expertise in medium voltage/high power converter design. Gabriel also managed research grants.

From 2015 to 2020, Gabriel worked at ABB. Gabriel held various roles, including Scientist in Power Electronic Converters from March 2015 to July 2017, and Research Team Manager in Power Electronic Converters from August 2017 to October 2019. In their most recent position at ABB, they served as the Research Team Manager for Electromechanics Integration, from November 2019 to March 2020.

Currently, Gabriel Ortiz is employed at ANYbotics since April 2020. Gabriel started as the Team Lead Electrical Engineering and later transitioned to the role of Team Lead Hardware R&D in April 2023.

Gabriel Ortiz has a strong educational background in electrical and electronics engineering. Gabriel earned a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from ETH Zürich between the years 2009 and 2015. Prior to that, Gabriel completed their Master of Science (MSc) degree in the same field from Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria, spanning from 2003 to 2008. Gabriel'seducation journey began in Colegio Lirima, where they attended from 1994 to 2002.
