Merrill Shum, MD, is a highly experienced hematologist-oncologist currently creating one of the largest private practice medical oncology and hematology groups in Southern California at the Cancer and Blood Specialty Clinic. Simultaneously, Merrill serves as a limited partner at Oncology Ventures, focusing on investments in cancer-related data and technology start-ups, and as an advisory specialist at Journey Oncology, Inc. Other roles include advisory capacities at Ankr Health and Aurora Motors, as well as seed investing in YO-KAI Express. Merrill has a significant history with the Oncology Institute of Hope and Innovation, where contributions included co-developing a leading value-based oncology practice and directing pharmacy and clinical research efforts. Educational credentials include an M.D. from Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara and a B.S. from the University of California, Berkeley, along with specialized healthcare management training from Columbia Business School.
