Job Title: Chief Administrative Officer
Job Summary
The Chief Administrative Officer is responsible for leadership functions pertaining to finance, revenue cycle, customer relations/registrations, supply chain, facilities, and other non-clinical departments. The position is a part of the executive leadership team at Animas Surgical Hospital and works closely with the Chief Nursing Officer, Director of Human Resources and Chief Executive Officer in the overall leadership and management of the hospital and related entities.
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Essential Job Functions:

  1. Oversees departments, vendors, and the overall revenue cycle processes to ensure accurate, effective, and cost-efficient revenue cycle functions from registrations through collections.

  2. Collaborates with the managed care staff to maintain patient access to services at the facility and market rate in reimbursement.

  3. Leads finance related activities within the facility including, but not limited to: budgeting, reporting, workflows that exchange information from locally managed systems to the general ledger and working with our outsourced finance services to ensure accurate financial reporting.

  4. Responsible for financial counseling, pre-authorization, and customer service functions for hospital services. Collaborates with hospital-based, outpatient service leadership for recommendations on similar financial policies and procedures.

  5. Ensures the facilities operated by Animas Surgical Hospital are well maintained to provide safe and quality care to patients and follow local, state, and federal regulations.

  6. Oversees supply chain and materials functions in the hospital to ensure that our employees and medical staff have the materials needed to perform their work at a cost that is favorable to the hospital. Ensure that processes are established for cost to be accurately invoiced, paid and reported as needed.

  7. Responsible for maintaining an effective information technology infrastructure that balances efficient workflows for system users and is cost effective while effectively protecting health information. This includes working with any vendors or business partner who provide outsourced services. Works in collaboration with the Chief Nursing officer when financial and clinical workflows overlap.

  8. Oversees policy development, maintenance, review, and approval for departments and functions of responsibility, including but not limited to customer service, revenue cycle, finance, facilities, supply, information technology, and compliance.

  9. Serves as the Compliance Officer

  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

  11. Demonstrates the spirit of the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital through words and actions and implements them into departmental processes, programs, and the working environment.
    a. Applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day to day activities of the position.
    b. Maintains and protects confidentiality regarding all aspects of patient care, personnel, and strategic issues. Adheres to Confidentiality Policy.
    c. Maintains positive working relationships and fosters cooperative work environment. Adheres to the hospital’s Guidelines for Appropriate Conduct in the HR Manual.
    d. Displays honesty and mutual respect when communicating with peers and other departments.
    e. Follows through on problems that may compromise effective job performance by using appropriate chain of command.

Minimum Requirements
Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required; Master’s in Healthcare Management, Finance or Related Field Preferred
Experience, Training, Knowledge: Five or more years of healthcare management responsibilities in areas related to finance, revenue cycle and/or administration. Knowledge of hospital revenue cycle processes, basic financial reporting, healthcare compliance, basic information technology systems, and healthcare facilities regulations.

Physical Requirements
This position requires lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to ten (10) + pounds. Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, grasping, handling, and balancing five (5) or more hours per day. Sensory and communicative activities including: hearing, seeing, and speaking to be able to carry out essential job functions.

Salary Range: $130,000-$185,000

Working Conditions/Environmental Exposures
Normal office environment. Hazards are minimal if safety precautions are taken. Protective clothing/equipment normally not necessary.
