Kathleen Schatzmann serves as the Strategic Legislative Affairs Manager at the Animal Legal Defense Fund since September 2019, overseeing the development and execution of legislative activities to further the organization's mission. Prior to this role, Kathleen held positions as the Vice President of Government Affairs and Public Policy at Mercy For Animals and the Chief Operating Officer at St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center. Kathleen's earlier experience includes key roles at The Humane Society of the United States, where responsibilities involved state-level advocacy and the development of high-impact campaigns. Kathleen also directed education initiatives at Monmouth County SPCA, expanding humane education programs and establishing significant community partnerships.
