Kierston Shill, PhD has a diverse work experience. From 2006 to 2008, they were an Undergraduate Student Researcher at the Georgia Institute of Technology. From 2008 to 2014, they were an Assistant Specialist and PhD Chemical Engineering student at the University of California, Berkeley. During this time, they were the lead author on two peer-reviewed journal publications: one on the optimization and modeling of ionic liquid pretreatment and one on the development and characterization of a novel ionic liquid recycle process. From 2014 to 2022, they worked at Bayer as a Staff Development Scientist and Development Scientist. As a Development Scientist, they supported the purification process transfer for two FVIII protein therapeutics, including commercial regulatory filings, manufacturing production, audits, and launches. Kierston was also a subject matter expert for clinical GMP antibody purification processes, including cell culture clarification, chromatography, viral clearance, and formulation. Currently, they are an Associate Director of Process Development at Amyris.
Kierston Shill, PhD, obtained their Bachelor of Science in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology between 2005 and 2008. Kierston then continued their education at the University of California, Berkeley, where they earned their Master of Science in Chemical Engineering in 2010 and their PhD in Chemical Engineering in 2013.
