Duy Masuno has a diverse work experience, beginning in 2014 as a Laboratory Assistant at the Plant Gene Expression Center. In 2015 and 2016, they were an Undergraduate Intern at Berkeley Lab, where they inoculated nitrogen fixing bacteria into switch grass seeds and tested the inoculating method. In 2017, they were a Student Intern at Osaka University's Graduate School of Engineering, a Research Associate at Assembly Biosciences, Inc., and a Laboratory Research Assistant at the Plant Gene Expression Center. Finally, since 2018, they have been an Associate Scientist 3 at Amyris.
Duy Masuno attended Contra Costa College from 2009 to 2015, where they obtained an Associate of Sciences (A.S.) in Biotechnology. In May 2015, they also obtained a Biotechnology Technician certification from the Contra Costa Community College District. Duy then attended the University of California, Berkeley from 2015 to 2017, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science - BS in Microbial Biology.
