Sandesh Thapa has a diverse work experience in the field of controls systems engineering and autonomous vehicle motion controls. Sandesh most recently worked at Amogy as a Senior Controls System Engineer. Prior to that, they were employed at Ford Motor Company as an Autonomous Vehicle Motion Controls Engineer, where they designed and implemented path planning and controls algorithms for various applications. Before joining Ford, Sandesh worked at The Drone Racing League as a Senior Flight Controls Engineer, where they focused on controls research and development for autonomous drones. Sandesh also worked as a Graduate Research Assistant and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Oklahoma State University, where they specialized in cooperative aerial manipulation and control of multi-agents. Sandesh possesses strong technical skills in C/C++, ROS, Gazebo, Python, PX4, and Matlab/Simulink.
Sandesh Thapa completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from McNeese State University, which they attended from 2011 to 2015. Sandesh then pursued a Master of Science degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Oklahoma State University from 2016 to 2018. In addition to their formal education, they obtained a Nano Degree in Intro to Self Driving Cars from Udacity, with the degree obtained in 2020. Sandesh also holds certifications in Intro to Self Driving Car from Udacity, obtained in July 2020, and Robotics: Aerial Robotics from Coursera Course Certificates, obtained in January 2017.
