Akiva Marcus, MD, PhD has a diverse work experience in the medical field. Akiva started their career as a Consultant at LeoMark, LLC in 2006. In 2007, they co-founded AMNIOCHOR INC. and held the positions of Chief Medical Officer and Director. In 2012, they joined Montefiore Health System as a Gastroenterology Fellow and completed their fellowship in 2015. During their fellowship, they gained expertise in various areas including diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, motility disorders, colorectal cancer screening, chronic liver disease, and inflammatory bowel disease. Akiva is a member of several prestigious medical associations. Upon completing their fellowship, they joined HCA Florida Healthcare and HCA Florida JFK North Hospital as a Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist in 2015, where they continue to practice. Akiva also served as a Nocturnist at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center from 2013 to 2015.

Akiva Marcus, MD, PhD completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Biology, graduating Summa Cum Laude, from Yeshiva University in 2001. Akiva then pursued their MD and PhD in Neuroscience and Stem Cell Biology at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where they studied from 2001 to 2009. Following this, they completed their Internal Medicine Residency at Beth Israel Medical Center, New York, affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine, from 2009 to 2012. From 2012 to 2015, they underwent a Gastroenterology Fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center, also affiliated with Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Dr. Marcus obtained various certifications throughout their education and career. In 2012, they obtained their Internal Medicine certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine. In 2013, they received their DEA certification from the Department of Justice and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Akiva obtained their medical license from the New York State Department of Health in 2012 and from the Florida Board of Medicine in 2015. In 2015, they also obtained their CPR/ACLS certification. Finally, in 2016, they achieved their Gastroenterology certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine.
