Kara Flynn has extensive experience in communications, marketing, and leadership roles. Kara currently serves as the Senior Director of Communications, Marketing and Membership at the American Society of Human Genetics, where they oversee the creation and growth of public communication and engagement strategies. Prior to that, they were the Senior Director of Communications & Marketing at the Society for Neuroscience, where they guided communications strategy and led a team of 30 staff members. Kara has also worked as the Principal Consultant/Owner of Flynn Consulting, LLC, as well as the Vice President at LEVICK, where they designed and executed multi-million-dollar public affairs campaigns. Kara has held various other positions in global communications, government affairs, and director-level roles at organizations such as the Plasma Protein Therapeutics Association, Pew Initiative on Food and Biotechnology, and NPPC.
Kara Flynn attended Severna Park High School. Following high school, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Journalism from the University of Maryland, where they studied from 1990 to 1993. Kara also spent a year at the University of Maryland’s Munich Campus from 1989 to 1990, although no specific degree or field of study is provided for this period.
