Melissa Frey has a diverse work experience portfolio. Melissa started their career as an Accounting Specialist at T. Rowe Price in 2000 and worked there until 2002. In 2003, they moved to Learning Tree International as a Lead Accountant before transitioning to American Public University System in 2004. At American Public University System, they initially worked as an Assistant Controller from 2004 to 2013. Then, they held the position of Vice President of Finance Operations from 2013 to 2016 before becoming the Senior Vice President and Controller, a role they currently hold.

Melissa Frey holds a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree in Information Technology from American Public University, which they completed from 2007 to 2008. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland Global Campus, where they studied from 2001 to 2006. In addition, they hold a certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) obtained in 2017.
