Brendan Ryan

Brendan Ryan has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Brendan is currently employed at American Public Television as an App Developer, starting in February 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Visible Body as a Software Developer from February 2022 to November 2022. In this role, they were responsible for working on agile teams, providing support for a web app that interfaced with APIs, and collaborating with various stakeholders to implement design features.

Before their role at Visible Body, Brendan worked as a Technical Services Librarian at Providence Athenaeum from August 2015 to September 2021. Their responsibilities in this position included overseeing technical services and librarian duties.

Prior to that, Brendan worked at Worcester Public Library as the Head of Periodicals and Digital Services from January 2014 to July 2015. In this role, they supervised a team, created an archiving and digitization plan, collaborated with external organizations for digitization projects, and managed the budget and subscriptions for the Periodicals Department.

Earlier in their career, Brendan held multiple roles at Rhode Island College, including Digital Initiatives Librarian from September 2011 to December 2013, and Reference Librarian/Adjunct Faculty from September 2011 to December 2012.

Lastly, Brendan started their career as a Library Commons Assistant at Providence College, where they worked from June 2009 to September 2012. Brendan held the role of Library Commons Assistant 2 from September 2010 to September 2012, and Library Commons Assistant 1 from June 2009 to August 2010.

Brendan Ryan's education history begins in 1997 when they attended Providence College, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Sociology in 2001. Following this, in 2008 and 2009, Brendan pursued a Master's degree in Library and Information Science at the University of Rhode Island. During the same period, they also completed an MLIS (Master of Library and Information Sciences) program at the University of Rhode Island. Moving forward to 2010, Brendan attended the Community College of Rhode Island, focusing on Computer & Information Sciences. Lastly, in 2019 and 2020, they attended General Assembly, specializing in Computer Software Engineering. It should be noted that Brendan did not obtain a degree from the Community College of Rhode Island or General Assembly, as no degree names were specified for those periods.
