Katie oversees AON’s current and future clinical research initiatives. She is passionate about bringing scientific innovation and clinical trial access to the community setting where most oncology patients will receive their care.
Katie has over 25 years of healthcare experience including oncology nursing, clinical research, and program development. After graduating from Florida State University with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Katie worked in Atlanta, Georgia at Emory Hospital where she cared for critically ill patients in medical and surgical critical care units. For the last 19 years, Katie worked at Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute in Sarasota, Florida. While there, she developed processes which supported a network of 37 community-based clinical research sites throughout Florida, enrolling over 500 patients annually to phase 1-3 protocols. During her tenure she was responsible for many initiatives including opening two fully dedicated phase 1 clinical trial units and implementing technology solutions used to successfully match patients to clinical trials using clinical and genomic data.
