Karen Saxe serves as the Senior Vice President of Government Relations at the American Mathematical Society, advocating for mathematics on Capitol Hill and collaborating with various stakeholders to advance the field. Saxe holds the title of Professor Emerita and DeWitt Wallace Professor of Mathematics at Macalester College, while also contributing as a Faculty Fellow in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at American University. Previous roles include Affiliate Researcher at Georgetown University, Chair of the Anneli Lax New Mathematics Library Editorial Board, and Second Vice President at the Mathematical Association of America. Saxe’s expertise was further recognized during a tenure as the AMS/AAAS Congressional Science & Engineering Fellow in the U.S. Senate. Saxe earned a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Oregon and a BA in Mathematics and Physics from Bard College.
