Deyonna Grant

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Researcher Intern at American Institutes for Research

Deyonna Grant has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Deyonna started their professional journey in 2012 as a Student Intern at The Heart Nest Wellness Center. Deyonna then worked as an Administrative Assistant at Layer One Inc. from July 2012 to January 2014. In June 2014, they became a Sales Representative at Pier 1 Imports before transitioning to their role as a Volunteer at Drexel University from July 2016 to March 2017.

Grant's passion for education led their to work as a Teaching Fellow at Civic Works from August 2017 to August 2018. During this time, they taught math skills to middle school students and implemented the Baltimore County Public School System AMA curriculum.

In 2014, Grant started working at Temple University as a Student Worker and a Research Assistant from September 2014 to August 2017 and January 2016 to July 2016, respectively. Deyonna also served as a Student Mentor from August 2014 to May 2015.

Grant joined ETS in June 2021 as a NAEP - ETS Summer Pre-Doctoral Research Experience (SPRE) Intern. Deyonna'sresponsibilities included conducting statistical tests and analyses, exploring the relationship between technology use and academic achievement, and presenting analysis results to stakeholders.

Deyonna founded GrantEd Tutoring in May 2020, where they provided tutoring services until August 2021.

Grant's experience in academia includes roles at Howard University and American Institutes for Research. At Howard University, they worked as a Graduate Instructor, supporting teaching assistants, preparing lectures, and assessing students' comprehension in Introduction to Psychology courses. Deyonna also served as a Developmental Psychology PhD Student Researcher, contributing to research projects focused on youth STEM engagement, teacher-student relationships, and stereotype threat among minoritized students. Additionally, they worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, assisting instructors in various psychology courses and providing support to students.

In 2023, Grant will begin an internship as a Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Researcher Intern at the American Institutes for Research.

Deyonna Grant completed their high school education at Western School of Technology from 2009 to 2013, where they focused on Health Science. Following this, they pursued their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology at Temple University from 2013 to 2017. Currently, Deyonna is enrolled in Howard University, where they are working towards a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Developmental Psychology with a minor in Educational Psychology. Deyonna'santicipated graduation date is in 2024.
