Alex Kate Halvey is currently serving as an AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow at the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Policy, focusing on State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) policies. Prior to this role, they were an AIP/AAAS Congressional Science & Engineering Fellow in the United States Senate. Before entering the policy field, they conducted research as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Michigan and as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Delaware. Their educational background includes a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering with a focus on Polymer Surfaces and Interfaces. Additionally, they hold a Graduate Certificate in Science, Technology, and Public Policy. In the industry, they interned at Raytheon, gaining experience in materials analysis and characterization.
