Terry Segraves

Mr. Segraves is a twenty-eight year, retired veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department, serving more than half of his career in the elite Metropolitan Division. During his tenure, he established and supervised hundreds of security plans and details for visiting dignitaries from numerous nations. He also served on the LAPD’s development team for Support Line Tactics for Unusual Occurrences including Riot and Crowd Control Tactics.

As an assistant platoon leader, Mr. Segraves was frequently tasked with creating a liaison with the United States Department of State and the U.S. Secret Service. These assignments involved addressing high-risk security needs for visiting international dignitaries and Heads of State, the President and Vice-President of the United States (through six administrations) and high profile witnesses, planning and establishing personal security in and around their temporary residences.

Mr. Segraves has attended and led training at dozens of professional seminars regarding security protection and needs including the nationally renowned San Luis Obispo School of Terrorism, the United States Secret Service School of Personal Protection and the State of California School of Personal Protection. With Mr. Shaw, he worked the 1984 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, establishing security for the Israeli athletes and their contingents, the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, El Al Airlines at the Los Angeles Airport and Turkish athletes and dignitaries. Mr. Segraves also served on the elite team that established security detail for Pope John Paul II during his visit to Los Angeles.

As a co-founder and principal for SSA Security Group, Inc., he has supervised, consulted and established security for McDonald’s Restaurants, Alpharel Micro-Chip Manufacturing, the City of Fullerton Transportation Center, Mathews Studio Group, Inc., Hollywood Rentals, Inc., the United States Credit Bureau, American West Bank and hundreds of personal security operations.

Mr. Segraves is an active member of the following professional investigative and police officers organizations: ASIS, NCISS, SCFIA, NCFIA, CPOA, CALI and is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Throughout his law enforcement and investigative career, Mr. Segraves has been honored with numerous police commission meritorious commendations including the LAPD Police Star. He holds degrees in Administration of Justice and Business Administration from University of Redlands.
