Southeast Region Vice President Of Community Health at American Heart Association

Kristi Fultz-Butts, MPH has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. Kristi is currently the Southeast Region Vice President of Community Health at the American Heart Association, where they have been since April 2022. Prior to this, they served as the National Senior Lead Community Health from June 2019 to April 2022.

Before joining the American Heart Association, Fultz-Butts held the position of President & Chief Strategist at Health Science Communications, LLC from July 2017 to May 2019. In this role, they directed The Make Well Known Foundation and managed strategic partnerships for health-focused initiatives.

From July 2014 to May 2019, Fultz-Butts worked as a Public Health Advisor/Evaluator at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Kristi'sresponsibilities included providing subject matter expertise to CDC funded programs participating in the National Comprehensive Cancer Control Program and conducting evaluation studies of cancer-related activities dedicated to reducing the U.S. cancer burden.

Earlier in their career, Fultz-Butts served as an Instructor at Georgia Perimeter College from July 2007 to December 2015, and as an Adjunct Instructor at Kaplan University from June 2010 to March 2011 and Westwood College from July 2008 to October 2009.

Additionally, Fultz-Butts has notable experience at the CDC as a Health Scientist - Prevention With Positives Campaign Manager from September 2012 to May 2013, where they oversaw the development of a social marketing campaign for persons living with HIV and managed a government contract. Kristi also worked as a Health Scientist from September 2010 to April 2011, where they developed research proposals.

Fultz-Butts began their career as an Epidemiologist at the CDC from August 2001 to May 2008.

Kristi Fultz-Butts, MPH, obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology from Spelman College in 1995. In 1999, they attended Mercer University School of Medicine and earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree with a focus on Epidemiology - Community Health Assessment in 2001. In 2023, Kristi completed the Black Executive Leadership Program at McKinsey & Company.
