John Whalin

National Vice President, Talent Acquisition at American Heart Association

John Whalin has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. John is currently the National Vice President of Talent Acquisition at the American Heart Association, a position they started in October 2021. Prior to this, they were the Director of Talent Acquisition at Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. from November 2018 to October 2021. From 2015 to 2018, they worked as a Strategic Account Manager at iCIMS. Before that, they held the role of Senior Manager of Talent Acquisition at United Airlines from April 2011 to January 2015. John also worked at Continental Airlines as a Senior Manager of Recruitment Programs and Corporate & Global Recruiter from 2007 to 2011. Additionally, they have experience in the performing arts industry, having worked as an Actor & Musician at Stages Theatre Company from 2006 to 2009. John also served as the Training and Development Manager at Royal Caribbean International from 2003 to 2006. Finally, they have a background in education, having worked as the Director of Middle School Bands at Center Grove Community School Corporation from 1999 to 2003.

John Whalin attended Indiana University Bloomington from 1994 to 1999, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Music Education (BME) with a focus on instrumental, choral, and general studies. John then continued their education at Illinois State University from 2000 to 2009, with a focus on continuing studies in education. Prior to their higher education, John Whalin attended Avon High School. In addition to their academic qualifications, they have obtained various certifications including Enterprise Design Thinking Co-Creator and Practitioner from IBM in 2020, DDI Master Trainer and Program Manager from DDI | Development Dimensions International in 2012, Professional in Human Resources (PHR) from HRCI in 2011, and DDI Targeted Selection Trainer from DDI | Development Dimensions International in 2010.
