Carlos Braceras has extensive experience in transportation engineering and management, currently serving as the Executive Director of the Utah Department of Transportation since June 1986. Braceras has held several key positions including Deputy Director, Region 3 Director, Engineering Manager, and Civil Engineer within the same organization. In addition, Braceras is the Executive Board Chair for the Transportation Research Board and has actively contributed to the AASHTO as President, Chair of the AASHTO Design Subcommittee, and in other committee roles, promoting environmental excellence and context-sensitive design. Braceras has also engaged with the USDOT University Transportation Center as an Advisory Committee Member and served as Chairman of the ITS America Board, advocating for advancements in intelligent transportation systems. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Utah and a Bachelor of Arts in Geology from the University of Vermont.
