Marc Shepherd

Marc Shepherd has a diverse work experience in the field of IT and systems administration. Marc started their career in 2000 as an IT Systems Administrator at The Tech Museum of Innovation. Marc then worked as an IT Systems and Applications Engineer at SpikeSource, where they installed, configured, and supported various systems and applications.

After that, Marc joined Threadsy as a Systems Administrator, where they installed, monitored, and maintained Ubuntu Mysql/Apache/Tomcat servers on the AWS platform. Marc also developed scripts using Perl and Bash programming languages for monitoring and information gathering.

Marc worked at OTRS AG as a Services Operations Manager, where they built and managed the OTRS hosting and OnDemand operations centers. Marc provided end-user support for OTRS hosting customers.

Marc then served as a Web Operations Lead at LiveFyre and as an IT/Website Operations Manager at CK12 Foundation, where they configured and managed multiple AWS Ubuntu servers for development and production deployments.

Marc also worked at Cumulus Networks Inc as an IT Manager, where they configured and supported LDAP for authentication, installed and supported servers/switches, and managed Atlassian products.

Marc was also self-employed at Scribe Inc, where they configured and managed AWS servers for development, testing, QA, and production deployments.

Currently, Marc is employed at AAIS (American Association of Insurance Services) as a Systems Operations Manager and an Operations Senior Systems Administrator.

Marc Shepherd has an education history that includes two degrees and a field of study in computer science and electronics engineering. In 1992, they attended Heald College and completed an Associate of Science in Electronics Engineering Technology in 1993. From 2005 to 2010, Marc attended Ohlone College, where they earned an Associate of Science in Computer Science. Alongside their formal education, Marc has also obtained additional certifications in the field of technology, including Linux Essentials from the Linux Professional Institute in March 2018 and Okta Certified Professional from Okta, Inc. in April 2019.
