Wayne Thorp has extensive work experience in the financial industry. Wayne began their career in 1997 as an Assistant Financial Analyst at the American Association of Individual Investors (AAII) and later became an Associate Financial Analyst. In 2002, they joined AAII as a Financial Analyst and held this position until 2009. During this time, they also served as the Editor of Computerized Investing from 2005 to 2015. In 2009, Thorp returned to AAII as a Senior Financial Analyst and was subsequently promoted to Vice President in 2014. Wayne currently serves as the Head of Research & Analysis at the American Association of Individual Investors. Additionally, Thorp served as the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Hands of Ahava, a national organization dedicated to providing support and assistance to victims of domestic abuse and violence, from 2010 to 2013.
Wayne Thorp obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Economics from DePaul University, where they studied from 1993 to 1997. Before attending university, they received a diploma from Caro High School, where they studied from 1989 to 1993. In addition to their formal education, Wayne Thorp also obtained several certifications including "Content Strategy for Professionals 2: Expanding Your Content's Impact and Reach," "Content Strategy for Professionals 1: Engaging Audiences for Your Organization," "Project Management: The Basics for Success," and "Work Smarter, Not Harder: Time Management for Personal & Professional Productivity." These certifications were obtained through Coursera Verified Certificates in 2015.
