Harmony Turk has a diverse work experience in the field of cancer research and academia. Harmony is currently the Executive Editor of Cancer Research at the American Association for Cancer Research since December 2020. Prior to this, they worked as a Scientific Editor at Cell Press, specifically Cancer Cell, from May 2015 to December 2020. Harmony also served as a Postdoctoral Fellow at Institut Curie from October 2012 to May 2015, where they focused on studying the crosstalk between the bone marrow microenvironment and leukemic cells in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). During their time at Institut Curie, they successfully obtained funding for their project through the French foundation for cancer research, ARC.
Before joining Institut Curie, Harmony Turk was a Graduate Research Assistant at Texas A&M University from August 2008 to August 2012. Their Ph.D. work involved characterizing the effect of altering lipid raft composition on oncogenic signal transduction in colon cancer. Additionally, they also worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Texas A&M University from September 2010 to December 2011, where they attended lectures, provided tutoring, graded tests and projects, and even lectured the course on several occasions throughout the semester.
Harmony Turk completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Nutrition Sciences, with a focus on Molecular and Experimental Nutrition, at Texas A&M University from 2004 to 2008. Following that, from 2008 to 2012, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Nutrition Sciences at the same university.
