Larissa Novo

Larissa Novo is a Research Associate at the American Angus Association since August 2023. Previously, Larissa served as a PhD Candidate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from August 2020 to September 2023, focusing on the genomic architecture of health traits in dairy cattle. During an internship at the Council on Dairy Cattle Breeding in Summer 2022, Larissa worked on data wrangling and quantitative genetic analysis, including the implementation of single-step analysis for Johne's Disease. Larissa's academic background includes a Master's degree in Animal Breeding and Genetics from Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso, where research involved genetic parameter estimation for novel traits in the Senepol breed, and a Bachelor's degree in Zootecnia from the same institution. Earlier research roles included estimating genetic parameters for beef cattle and serving as an undergraduate teaching assistant in Cellular Biology.
