Rodney Carter has a diverse work history. Rodney started their career in the US Navy as a Boiler Technician, serving from September 1977 to February 1993. Following their military service, they worked at Wishard Memorial Hospital as an Operations Supervisor from July 1993 to April 1999. In 2007, Rodney joined the Omni Jacksonville Hotel as an Assistant Director of Engineering, where they handled various responsibilities such as managing day-to-day operations, scheduling associates, and overseeing departmental ordering and receiving.

Rodney Carter attended Ivy Tech Community College from 2000 to 2007, where they studied Heating, Air Conditioning, Ventilation and Refrigeration Maintenance. Prior to that, they completed their high school education at Indian Creek High School from 1973 to 1977.
