Yurby S. has a diverse range of work experience in the fields of communications, marketing, and community affairs. They started their career as an After School Program Assistant at The Gooden School from 2003 to 2006. In 2007, they worked as a Public Affairs & Community Relations Intern at ABC7 TV Station before moving on to become a Marketing Associate at UC Berkeley from 2007 to 2008.

From 2009 to 2012, Yurby S. worked as a Marketing and Communications Specialist at Transcend Information, Inc., where they coordinated internal and external marketing communications for the consumer electronics markets in North America.

In 2011, Yurby S. volunteered as a Marketing Volunteer at NSHMBA.

In 2012, Yurby S. joined AltaMed Health Services as a Communications Specialist, responsible for research and content creation for internal and external communications, as well as media relations coordination. They were subsequently promoted to Communications Manager in 2014, where they developed and implemented communications plans. In 2015, Yurby S. was promoted again to become the Director of Corporate Communications & Public Affairs, overseeing a team of 10 communications professionals. In 2018, they took on a new role as the Director of Community Affairs.
