As Chief Academic Officer, Grace leads the development of curriculum content for Almost Fun. Prior to joining team, she spent four years in the classroom, where she worked diligently to develop and teach hands-on physics curricula. She received her training through the Harvard Teacher Fellows Program at Harvard University, where she also earned a master’s in teacher education and a bachelor’s in mechanical engineering. It is no secret that she has a zealous energy when it comes to educating America’s youth.
As a refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo whose family came to the U.S. with nothing, Grace viewed education as her means to achieving the coveted “American Dream.” It wasn’t the system alone that saved her, but rather the genuine support she received from people who went out of their way to grant her access to knowledge, skills, and experiences that were otherwise inaccessible. Grace considers herself fortunate to have been embraced by a community of individuals who used their privilege for the betterment of those in need. Having awareness of the rarity of her own privilege, she desires to apply it in ways that liberate under-served and underrepresented young scholars.
