Jeff Kern has a long and varied work experience. Jeff began their career in 2000 as a Nuclear Reactor Operator for the US Navy. In 2009, they began working for Perry Ellis International as an Information Technology Operations. In 2014, they began working for Coinbase as a Compliance Operations, where they worked with a small team to establish and maintain appropriate AML investigation, review and reporting processes, and developed a customer risk scoring system. In 2016, they began working for Google as a Financial Intelligence Unit Investigations Manager, where they managed a team of investigators and researched and analyzed developing industry and compliance trends. In 2018, they began working for bitFlyer as a Chief Compliance Officer, where they managed the Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Compliance, and Risk departments, and was responsible for all aspects of the company's Bank Secrecy Act (BSA/AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP), and Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) compliance programs. In 2020, they began working for Virtual Asset Compliance Consulting as a Compliance Consultant. In 2022, they began working for Almond FinTech as a Chief Compliance Officer.
Jeff Kern obtained a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Western Governors University between 2012 and 2014. Jeff also holds two certifications, CAMS from ACAMS and CCNA - Security from Cisco.
