Sonia Kim is the Senior Director of Evaluation and Data. She is responsible for the Healthier Generation’s overall evaluation, data, and reporting plan, focusing on school and community programs. She works with leaders across the organization to drive the Healthier Generation’s evidence-based approach and implement equity-centered evaluation.
Prior to joining Healthier Generation in 2016, Sonia worked at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for 8 years as a Nutritional Epidemiologist, focusing on policy, systems, and environmental approaches to improving nutrition and preventing obesity, including healthy food access, food service guidelines at worksites, community and clinical linkages, and food insecurity. She led several high-profile projects, including CDC’s August 2014 Vital Signs, Children Eating More Fruit Not More Vegetables; State Indicator Report on Fruits and Vegetables, 2013; and the Food Service Guidelines for Federal Facilities.
Sonia earned a doctorate in Nutritional Health Sciences from Emory University, for which she received the Donald B. McCormick Award for Research Contributions to Nutrition. She received her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
