From 2022 to 2023, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Nordic Semiconductor.
From 2020 to 2022, they served as a Principal Engineer and Tech Lead at Pelion. In this role, they led a team responsible for implementing the Wi-SUN mesh networking stack for embedded devices used in Pelion device management.
From 2014 to 2020, they worked at Arm. Mika initially served as a Senior Software Engineer, where they implemented and contributed to the specification of the Thread Mesh networking standard. Mika later became a Technical Lead for the mesh network stack and was responsible for leading a team in the implementation and testing of the Wi-SUN/Thread/6LoWPAN mesh networking stack for Arm Mbed OS. Mika also participated in the standardization efforts for the Thread mesh network.
In 2014, they briefly worked at Microsoft as a Senior Software Design Engineer, focusing on local connectivity for the Nokia X2 platform.
From 2000 to 2014, they worked at Nokia, first as a Software Design Engineer, where they worked on internet protocol development and was responsible for implementing the TLS/SSL protocol. Mika also contributed to RFC4279. Later, they became a Senior Software Design Engineer, focusing on local connectivity and UI customization for the Nokia X2 platform. Mika was responsible for Wi-Fi, USB, and Bluetooth areas, as well as implementing IMS/SIP layers used in video sharing, push-to-talk over cellular, and VoIP.
In 1999, they started their career as a Quality Assurance Engineer at Atex Media Solution.
Mika Tervonen obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the Raahe Institute of Computer Engineering, where they studied from 1994 to 2000.
