Andrew Price has worked in the field of research and development for over 20 years. Andrew began their career as a Graduate/Undergraduate Researcher at Cornell University in 2000, where they assisted in the development of a biosensing assay to detect trace amounts of living pathogens, fabricated electrode microarrays, and assembled functional colloidal vesicles. Andrew then moved on to the University of Colorado - Boulder in 2002, where they invented a patented biosensing platform for labeless detection of DNA, modified solid surfaces with self-assembled monolayers, and designed a novel method for probing the arrangement of surfactants at fluid interfaces.
Price continued their research career at the University of Melbourne in 2008, where they developed a polymer microreactor platform for real-time tracking of DNA/RNA synthesis and degradation, created biomimetic polymer and lipid architectures for delivering small peptide and enzyme therapeutics, and maintained a collaboration with an industrial research organization. Andrew then moved on to Sandia National Laboratories in 2010, where they created linking and surface chemistries for integrating biomolecules and nanoparticle systems, investigated the self-assembly of mixed polymers tethered to a solid support, and synthesized polymer surfactants to modify the organization of lipid and polymer vesicles.
In 2013, Price joined 10X Genomics as a Staff Scientist, and was promoted to Senior Scientist, Associate Director of Product Development, and finally Director of Product Development. Andrew then joined Senior Scientific, LLC in 2013 as Director of Chemistry, where they established the chemical capabilities of the company, co-invented theranostic nanoparticles for detecting cancerous cells in a magnetic imaging platform, and implemented both in vitro and in vivo assays that demonstrated specific targeting of nanoparticles to biological markers on the surfaces of cells.
Most recently, Price joined Element Biosciences in 2020 as Director of System Integration, where they led the System Integration team through the development and launch of the AVITI System. Andrew was then promoted to Senior Director of System Integration. In 2022, they joined Alida Biosciences as Vice President of Research and Development.
Andrew Price received their B.S. in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from Cornell University in 2001, followed by an M.Eng. in Biological and Environmental Engineering from Cornell University in 2002. Andrew then completed their Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder in 2007.
