John W. Hodges Jr. has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. John W. is currently working as a Fractional CEO/CTO for multiple companies, including Alertgy, Smart FoodStuff, and a stealth company. In their role as CTO at Alertgy, they are involved in developing a non-invasive blood glucose monitoring medical device. As the CEO of Smart FoodStuff, they are focused on bringing innovative food refrigeration solutions to the consumer products market. Additionally, they are working on developing a range of products for the military market with a stealth company.

Prior to their current roles, Hodges served as the President and CEO of FreshSurety from 2019 to 2021, where they led the development of a low-cost gas sensor with post-processing algorithms for food safety. John W. also worked as the Founder and CTO of FreshSurety from 2018 to 2019, where they were responsible for finding global partners and establishing manufacturing capabilities.

Before FreshSurety, Hodges founded Quantum Dielectrics, LLC in 2013, where they raised capital and patented a non-invasive blood glucose monitor. John W. invented new Deep Learning techniques and built machine learning classification models using human blood glucose and insulin data. Prior to that, they worked at SRI International as a Principal RF Systems Engineer from 2007 to 2013, where they were involved in business development and led multi-disciplinary teams.

Hodges also has experience as a consultant, providing technical advice and reference designs to various companies from 2004 to 2007. John W. served as a Senior Staff Research Engineer at Lockheed Martin from 2001 to 2004, where they specialized in modern control theory and electronics for pointing tracking and acquisition systems. John W. also worked as the Director of Technology at Nextpath (NTPK) Technologies from 1999 to 2001, where they had P&L responsibility and led engineering operations.

In addition to these roles, Hodges founded and operated Navis Inc., Nextwave Photonics Inc., and Willow Systems LTD from 1996 to 1999, developing all-optical multiplexers using MEMS technology.
