Colin Tai has had a varied work experience. From 2013 to 2014, they were a Researcher for EDT (The Engineering Development Trust) and a Sales Intern for Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited. In 2014, they were a Summer Intern for Mott MacDonald. From 2016 to 2018, they were an Asset Management Intern for Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. Colin is currently a CEO, COO, and Co-Founder for Alcove.

Colin Tai attended Yew Chung International School prior to enrolling at Harrow School from 2010 to 2015, where they were awarded a Music scholarship. Colin then attended Duke University from 2015 to 2019, where they obtained a BSE in Mechanical Engineering and a BS in Economics. In 2017, they attended The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) for a Summer School in Economics.
