Co-founder/CTO at Alauda

Kai Chen is a co-founder and CTO of Alauda, Inc. Kai has been working at the company since January 2015, where they have been involved in offering Container-as-a-Service to simplify and streamline the creation, delivery, and management of containerized applications.

Before joining Alauda, Inc., Kai worked at Microsoft for several years. From 2004 to 2015, they held various roles at Microsoft, including Principal Software Engineering Manager, Principal Development Lead, Senior Software Design Engineer, and SDE (Software Development Engineer) at different levels.

Prior to their time at Microsoft, Kai was a Research Fellow at Williams College. From 2003 to 2004, they conducted research in DNA-based Computation, demonstrating the computational power of DNA strands as Turing-universal tiles. Kai also worked as a Research Fellow at California Institute of Technology in 2003, researching Complexity & Derandomization Theory and studying explicit construction of Extractors.

In 2002, Kai was a Research Fellow at Williams College, focusing on Commutative Algebra and studying the characterization of the completion of unique factorization domains. Kai also worked as a Research Fellow at Williams College in 2001, researching Parallel Computation and developing utility software for dynamic load-balancing and partitioning of meshes in parallel processes.

Kai Chen began their education in 2000 and graduated from Williams College in 2004 with a B.A. degree in Computer Science & Mathematics. In 2002, they participated in the Dean's Exchange Program at Caltech, where they studied Computer Science & Mathematics for a year. Afterward, they pursued a Master's degree in Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington from 2006 to 2010.
