Josh Daniell

Josh Daniell has a diverse work experience spanning different industries. Josh is currently the CEO of Akahu, a New Zealand open finance platform that provides data integrations with banks and financial institutions through a simple API for developers. Josh is also the Founder of MoneySecrets, a platform that encourages conversations about personal finance in New Zealand.

Previously, Josh worked at WeWork as a Market Director, responsible for the commercial success of Flatiron School in the Washington, DC area. Josh was also a Community Manager at WeWork. Before WeWork, Josh was a Board Member and Co-founder/CEO of Snowball Effect, an online private equity marketplace in New Zealand that aimed to improve access to capital for companies and provide a channel for investors to discover and invest in growth companies.

Prior to their entrepreneurial ventures, Josh had experience working as a Lawyer at Bell Gully, where they specialized in corporate and commercial law, including mergers and acquisitions, securities offerings, corporate governance, and contract drafting and negotiation. Josh started their career as a Legal Intern at Bell Gully. In addition, they have had a role as a Student Brand Ambassador for Red Bull.

Before their professional career, Josh founded and served as the Principal of Soup Kitchen Limited, a business consulting firm that offered fresh and cost-effective solutions to various sectors.

Josh Daniell completed Level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst Program at CFA Institute in 2013. From 2005 to 2009, they pursued an LLB / BA degree at the University of Canterbury. In 2020, they obtained the New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services (Level 5) from Open Polytechnic of New Zealand, specializing in Financial Planning and Services. Additionally, Josh earned a Full Stack Web Development Certification from freeCodeCamp in 2017 and completed the Introduction to Computer Science course at Harvard University through edX in the same year. In 2018, they completed the Learning How to Learn program offered by McMaster University.
