Nuno Simões has worked in various roles since 2013. From 2013 to 2015, they were a Researcher at the Universidade do Algarve. From 2015 to 2019, they were a Software Engineer and GIS Specialist at LSASAF (EUMETSAT) - IPMA. Nuno'sroles included programming in Python, C++, JavaScript, Bash, and Fortran, GIS programming, GIS analysis, webGIS development, PostGIS, PostgreSQL, Airflow, web development, Linux and Windows, database creation and analysis, and remote sensing. Nuno'sprojects included LSA SAF, Copernicus Global Land Service, and Maritime Earth Observation. From 2019 to 2020, they were a Software Engineer at Critical Software (by Multivision). In 2020, they began working as an Engineering Manager and Software Engineer at Aiven.

Nuno Simões obtained a Master in Geographic Information Systems from Universidade do Algarve in 2014, having studied Geographic Information System from 2012 to 2014. Nuno also obtained a certification in ArcGIS for Server: Site Configuration and Administration from Esri Portugal in October 2014.
