Ben McKellar, CISSP

Security Analysis And Response Engineer at Aiven

Ben McKellar, CISSP, has over 13 years of experience in the security industry. Ben began their career in 2007 as a Forum Moderator at Overclock.net, where they moderated forums and game servers, and assisted at events hosted by the company. In 2009, they joined eSentire Inc. as a SOC Systems Lead, where they were responsible for a team of five and provided professional solutions to all accounts. Ben also generated accurate weekly reports, scheduled and processed Vulnerability Scans, audited SLA adherence, and trained and mentored new hires. In 2015, they joined Dell SecureWorks as a Security and Risk Consultant and SOC Lead Analyst onsite with SABIC. In 2016, they moved to McCain Foods as a Senior Information Security Analyst and Information Security Operations Analyst, where they led the procurement of a SIEM solution into the environment. In 2020, they joined Arctic Wolf as a Concierge Security Engineer IV and Concierge Security Engineer III, where they were the team captain of the Concierge Security Team and delegated work accordingly. Most recently, in 2022, they joined Aiven as a Security Operations Engineer.

Ben McKellar, CISSP has a comprehensive educational background. Ben obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Information Technology with an Emphasis in Security from Western Governors University between 2015 and 2019. Prior to that, they attended Lone Star College from 2007 to 2008 and obtained their Ontario Secondary School Diploma from St. Benedict's CSS between 2003 and 2007. McKellar also holds various certifications from CompTIA, AXELOS Global Best Practice, (ISC)², and Cisco. These include PenTest+, Cybersecurity Analyst+, Cloud+, Linux+, Project+, Network+, Security+, Server+, A+, ITIL v3 Foundations, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), CCNA Cyber Ops, CCNA:R&S, and CCNA:Security.
