Ruben A. has a diverse work experience that includes various roles in education. Ruben worked as a Editor at The Educator's Room, LLC where they proofread and edited content by assigning topics to writers to ensure timely and relevant content. At Airship, they worked as a Writer and wrote scripts for a podcast on historical events and people. As a Curriculum Writer at CommonLit, they developed curriculum for education. Ruben was also a Restorative Justice Coach and Facilitator at Ramapo for Children where they coached school staff to design and implement a restorative justice action plan. Ruben has been a Freelance Writer since 2007, and their work involves translating data, research, and personal experience into content about pedagogy. Ruben has also worked as a Facilitator at the Center for Racial Justice in Education, and as the Founder and Producer of Teachable Moments NYC, an event series promoting storytelling and networking in the education community. Ruben has worked for the NYC Department of Education as a Teacher Leader, Consulting with school leaders to identify and implement high leverage, ambitious, and equity-driven goals. As a Classroom Teacher, Ruben designed and implemented culturally relevant, responsive, and sustaining curriculum for diverse students using Universal Design for Learning principles in NYC for over 14 years. Additionally, Ruben has worked as a Curriculum Writer for Harvard University, writing curriculum for middle school after-school programs and as a Campus Director for Citizen Schools, managing program management, curriculum design, and external partnerships for an Extended Learning Time program.

Ruben A. completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History at the University of Pennsylvania in 2007. Ruben then pursued a Masters of Science degree in Teaching and Childhood Education from Fordham University from 2007 to 2009. Ruben also attended the Harvard Graduate School of Education from 2011 to 2012 where they attained a Master of Education degree in Education Policy and Management. Before attending University of Pennsylvania, Ruben also studied at UC Santa Barbara in 2003-2004. In terms of additional certifications, Ruben obtained the Algebra 4 All certification from the NYC Department of Education in 2018, and completed a 30-hour Life Spaces Crisis Intervention certification in 2015. Additionally, they hold a New York State Childhood Education certificate for grades 1-6 from the New York State Education Department.
